A Note for Those Reading My Checking Basics 101 Series

Posted in Finances tagged at 7:07 pm by otherdeb

In his wonderful “156th Carnival of Personal Finance”, Prime Time Money included this excellent article, “The Overdraft Fees Ripoff”, on how banks process checks at the end of the day in order to assess you the maximum amount of overdraft fees.

If you are on a tight budget, and wonder why checks you know you put money in for are bouncing, you definitely want to read this one!

EDIT: And there is a very interesting discussion on both this and on banks processing debits before credits at The Ripoff Report.

@PT: My pleasure! Information from the article was directly relevant to both the series noted, and to a few real life discussions I’m involved in.

Thank you for including that excellent article in your Carnival!
