@Ariel Cinii: Yeah, but the question for most folks on the way to financial recovery is how to not be defeated by the sidesteps and orbital eccentricities.

Straight-line (vector) courses are for people who live in vacuums and have no other forces acting on them. Consider your path to stability more of a dance with a fourth-dimensional partner. The route you wind up taking will get you where you're going eventually if you keep your eye on the target and mind the orbital eccentricities.

Oh, dear. I somewhat managed to miss that one. *hugs* Furball was adorable, and he shall be missed.

Of course it's natural to be scared, but as you say, it's important not to be paralized when you're scared. Earlier this year, my boss told me that the magazine I edit might be cancelled. Two years ago? Those words would've sent me panicking and into fetal postion fast. This time, I had the ugliest pit in the bottom of my stomach, but I managed to keep my cool during the meeting, and once I was out, I started calling around to fish for new jobs. That's the progress. Not being scared is a bit dangerous, I think, since you stop reading risks and acting accordingly.

I'll be here a lot more often. Unless my internet dies again, you won't be getting rid of me. ;)

@ Adalisa: Hi and welcome!

<i>"It’s specially good when you can look back and see how you’re handling emergencies differently, because it’s always a boost to your self-steem when you realize you’re no longer as scared, or as helpless as you were before, right?</i>

Oh, I'm still scared...I think it's natural to be scared when things upset your world. But the helpless goes away really fast.

A while back, I wrote a post about <a href="http://otherdeb.wordpress.com/2008/05/09/requieskitty-in-peace-an-interim-post/" rel="nofollow">having to put Furball to sleep</a>, in which I noted that for the first time, when my ex asked how much money I needed to handle it, I was able to tell him that I had not needed money, just a ride (which I got elsewhere), and his comfort (which I had [via phone]). That was the sweetest feeling; that I hadn't had to depend on him to bail me out *yet again*.

Anyway, I'm glad you managed to find your way over here, as your opinions are always great to read!

I remember the trip on bus to the school, and later my own experience by getting those 'two blocks' down, and you're right about the comparison. I think it's not only about financial recovery, but about a lot of other things in life. Sometimes, you might be taking step backs someway or another, but as long as you have the goal clear, It doesn't matter if you do take a step or two in a different direction, as you say.
